2008 Series Rules

General:

• Each individual Contest in the 2008 Interclub Thermal Duration Series will be run under rules determined at the discretion of the Contest Director designated by the particular event's hosting club.  
  

• The contest format and entry fees for an event will be announced on the three clubs' Yahoogroups at least one week before the event. It is the responsability of the designated Contest Director to ensure that the information is posted so that the three club's members are properly informed of the particulars of their event.
  

        Models:

• Any unpowered RC model will be judged eligible for this series of contests. 

• Models must be controlled by Radio Control and can be acting on an unlimited number of surfaces at the discretion of the builder/flyer.

• No thermal sensors or variometers of any kind will be permitted.

• No skegs or other arresting devices will be allowed.

        Flyer Eligibility:

• All flyers wishing to participate in the series must be MAAC or AMA members in good standing.
  

• There will be two classes of flyer for this series; NOVICE and EXPERT. Flyers will default to EXPERT unless a status of NOVICE is requested. A committee made up of one representative from each club will determine each flyer's classification at the beginning of the season for club members or event for visitors. This designation is for the Interclub Series only and will be for the duration of the 2008 Series. A flyer's class designation will be determined by their skill level as opposed to by the type of model they will be flying.  It is the Contest Director's responsibility to convene a meeting of this committee before their event in order to ensure that all flyers wishing to participate in the event are classified as per the committee's decision. 
  

        Cumulative Scoring and Naming of Series Champions:

• Flyer's scores at the end of a contest, regardless of the event's Contest Director's scoring method, will be normalized to1000 and applied to the 'Series' Cumulative Scores' chart. It is the Contest Director's responsibility to forward the normalized results to Mark Gervais by email at mark.gervais@sympatico.ca for inclusion in the Series' Cumulative Scoring chart to be posted on this website as soon as possible following the event.
  
• To determine the Series Champion in each class, a flyer's three (3) best Contest scores will be added together to arrive at his 'Cumulative Series Score'. 
  
• The NOVICE pilot with the highest 'Cumulative Series Score' (accumulated score) from any three of the five scheduled 2008 series contests will be named the 2008 Interclub Thermal Duration Series Novice Champion.
  
• The Expert pilot with the highest 'Cumulative Series Score' (accumulated score) from any three of the five scheduled 2008 series contests will be named the 2008 Interclub Thermal Duration Series Champion.
  
• In the event of a tie, the flyer with the higher finishing positions in his three counting events will be named the Series Champion. .

        Entry Fees:

• The entry fees for the 2008 Interclub Thermal Duration Series events will be determined by the Contest Director of the event.
